Happy Independence Day!

“The reality of 21st Century Freedom” By; Daphne Knox McClain

We must never give up our RIGHT to Freedom! My father was a WWII Veteran, a police officer in Philadelphia and died being an educator of youth. He always instilled within me the importance to vote, to help others get to the poles and vote and to NEVER forget the Blood that was shed and the lives that were loss so that we could enjoy the dream of Independence. Stand tall and strong! Continue to fight with your voices, financial powers, and prayers for those who today, in the 21st Century, yet remain captive in their minds, bodies and spirits…for those who remain captive both physically and mentally!

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Those words have not always rang true for everyone and may not ring true for some people today but at least, today, we have the freedom to strive and peacefully protest and speak truth to power to make the pathway of equality wider for all of those individuals, whose experiences have fallen short of the freedoms that were meant to lie behind the meaning of “The Pledge of Allegiance”…A pledge which should always be to honor and respect a human- beings God given right to FREEDOM! I encourage my readers who would like to learn more about the history of “The Pledge of Allegiance” to click on the following link: https://www.ushistory.org/documents/pledge.htm
