Today it rained.
Yesterday there were cloudy skies.
By Tomorrow, neither will matter because love never dies.
I shutter to think of the desolate nights and sorrows you left behind.
For me, your sister, they were cold and fierce, empty and void.
The questions in my heart grew into three embers of light formed by three smiling faces and memories that will forever shine.
As friends – we talked, we shared, we cried.
As sisters – we held onto the family secrets…for others there were six, seven or nine but for us, they were too numerous to count.
Mirror images of one another, we loved, we laughed we played… we were three total strangers bound by blood, intellect and lies.
Time healed our wounds and vanquished the what if’s.
Love strengthened our laughter and brightened every room we entered.
As sisters – we understood truth was in the musical notes played by our father and in the symbols sewn between the patches of our grandmother’s lovely hand-made quilts.
Today it rained.
Yesterday there were cloudy skies.
By tomorrow, neither will matter because love never dies.
